Nancy I. Sanders has a passion to teach children, parents, teachers, and all Americans about the rich history our nation is built upon, especially the contributions of African American heroes and significant, as well as lesser known, individuals. Through the books and articles she writes, she hopes that a new generation of freedom builders will be inspired to lead the way.
Nancy is the author of the groundbreaking new book, Yes! You Can Learn How to Write Children’s Books, Get Them Published, and Build a Successful Writing Career, award-winning finalist of the National Best Books 2009 Awards. She has published over 80 books with houses such as Scholastic Teaching Resources, Reader’s Digest Children’s Books, Tyndale, Chicago Review Press, and Sleeping Bear Press.
Nancy has led local and online writers’ groups for years. She has been a columnist for children’s writers in the Writer’s online magazine, the Institute of Children’s Literature e-News, and the Christian Communicator. She is on the faculty of the National Writing for Children Center where she teaches monthly teleseminars on building a successful writing career. Nancy and her husband, Jeff, live in Chino, California. They have two adult sons, Dan and Ben, and a rambunctious cat-who-thinks-he’s-a-writer named Humphrey.
